This plug-in blurs the individual colour channels of an image by different amounts. It uses a fast sub-pixel gaussian blur. BlurChannels can be used to soften the red channel of a digitally created image and blend the result back into the original. This is useful for simulating certain filmstocks that have layered red, green and blue emulsions where the focussing of the image captured on film is subtly different for each layer (or channel).

By preserving static parts of the image less information is thrown away giving a higher quality result.

The algorithm is based on a hybrid median filter that analyses a neighbourhood of pixels and sets the centre pixel to the median value of that region.
